Any device use incorrectly can cause Trauma.
I don't place the introducer of the endotracheal tube, this stylet pass the confines of the protective sheath of the endotracheal tube. If I do, I might as well tag the airway with J. T. was here for future intubators of this airway to see.
I wonder why am I told the stylet I use causes trauma, but when an Anesthesiologist fails an intubation with a non-styleted endotracheal tube, a stylet gets used by the Anesthesiologist. Am I missing something?
I know I don't have special needs or handicapped during airway management. So why do we continue this myth/dogma?
