First Pass Success needs to be done with the tool you used for intubation. Done with the tools you do have. If you have an Airtraq or Glidescope or whatever you own for advanced intubation tools, use it.
Just don't dislodge your tube as you verify successful passage through the vocal cords. Again remember push the endotracheal tube to the side, and then place your advanced airway device.
Stop being Lazy. Keep your intubation skills sharp. Laryngoscopy can be done even if you didn't intubate the patient.
