It should be about Height and not true weight or ideal weight for appropriate S.G.A. size.

How to assess the appropriate size of the SupraGlottic Airway device for our patient?

Regardless if it has the shape of an LMA or the shape of a Combitube, let's make this lesson simple.

We have been told to ask and estimate the weight of the patient. At times even asking ourselves the ideal weight of a patient. What a joke. Best estimation in sizing up for an adult patient is height. Those below 5 feet tall, will wear size 3.. those between 5 and 6 feet tall, should wear size 4, and those above 6 feet tall, should be wearing size 5. Simple enough. Learned such lessons from the King Laryngeal Tube. Lessons well appreciated.
